Getting the Perfect Fit Starts Here
One of the biggest concerns brides have when shopping for a wedding dress online is sizing. Will it fit? What size should I order? What if I'm between sizes? These are completely normal questions — and we're here to answer them all.
At muselula, our hand-embellished gowns are made to order, which means we can accommodate custom measurements. Here's how to measure yourself accurately at home.
What You'll Need
- A soft measuring tape (fabric or plastic — not a metal tape measure)
- A mirror to check your tape placement >A friend to help with measurements (for better accuracy)
- A form-fitting top and leggings (no bulky clothing)
The Three Key Measurements
1. Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Make sure the tape is snug but not tight — you should be able to slip one finger underneath.
2. Waist
Find your natural waist — the narrowest part of your torso, usually about 1-2 inches above your belly button. Keep the tape parallel to the floor and breathe normally.
3. Hips
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, about 7-9 inches below your natural waist. Keep your feet together and the tape parallel to the floor.
Pro Tips for Accurate Measuring
- Stand up straight with your feet together
- Don't pull the tape too tight — it should sit against your skin without compressing
- Take each measurement 2-3 times and use the average
- Measure in your undergarments, not over clothing
- Don't add inches for "ease" — our size charts already include wearing ease
Between Sizes?
If your measurements fall between sizes, we recommend ordering the larger size and having the gown tailored. It's much easier to take a dress in than to let it out.
